Yet another, long weekend in a short trip!

It’s been a while, I did not update this BLOG due to so and so reasons ;-)
Yes, sort of hibernation after I returned to Bangalore in December.
Now, me again, back to Shanghai. Though, it’s for a very short time. From today i.e 1st May to 3rd May, it’s holiday time in CHINA. No plans as of now. I am waiting for my return tickets, will be flying back to Bangalore this weekend.

3rd Diwali in Shanghai !

I forgot to write something about Diwali which we somehow tried to celebrate in Shanghai, faaaaaaaaaaaar away from our families :(
This is infact my 3rd Diwali in Shanghai and it was indeed happening.
At first, attended Pooja at Mr. Ramapathi’s place. Then we went on to tryout some crackers. We thought of firing the crackers on Zhong Hua Xin Road. There is a big footpath which we targeted. To be safe, we did check with Shanghai traffic police regarding this. They said, we may fire crackers after they leave from that place. They did not want us to fire crackers when they are on duty ;-)
Anyway, at 10PM they left and then we fired lots of crackers… It was real fun
Check these snaps . . .

Whatttt a match….a real Humdinger !

Thanks to both Soapcast and pklivecricket.blogspot.com.
What a match… India Vs Australia semi final went down to the wire
Chasing 188 with around 10 runs per over Australia were really in a driving seat till 15th over. And then comes the magician, Bajjhi… he bowled that magic 18th over in which he went just under may be 6 runs and took the wicket of Clarke.
Anyways…that’s it, Indians have pulled off an amazing win, a win by 15 runs to storm into the Final, and will meet arch rivals Pakistan!!!
Had a gr8 time watching the match late night… it’s almost 3.30am here, so a very good morning Shanghai :P

The story “Me and My Laptop”

So me again back to Shanghai and the story “Me and My Laptop” continues :-)
Yesssssss, the trip started with a BANG, typhoon Wifa. After 2 days of horrible wind and rain, today it seems to be bit normal. This time staying in an apartment just 5min walk from our office. Nothing special to mention. Here comes just another weekend.

Back to Shanghai . . .

Tomorrow night, me again flying to Shanghai. Will be reaching there on Sunday evening. This time, no supreme tower instead planning to stay in different hotel (http://www.newharbour.com.cn). It is very near to Peoples’ square and also near to our office.

Bye Bye Shanghai !

So the DAY finally arrived . . . tomorrow I will be traveling back to Mera Bharath !
That too on Kannada Rajyotsava . . . so lucky ;-)

Trip to Suzhou . . .

So the week long holiday, started with the train journey from Shanghai to a near by city called Suzhou. When we arrived, it was raining, so need to stand in a long Q for the taxi. Finally, we got one and we headed towards Deal’s apartment. It’s in Suzhou industrial area. On the way, the city looked very nice, green and full of lights :)
Next day, we went to a tourist spot called Tiger Hill.

We still remember that thing written in an add on the walls of Railway station,
“‘It is a lifelong pity if having visited Suzhou, you did not visit Tiger Hill;-)
On the web I found that, this is infact came from A famous (more…)

Visit to Shanghai Oriental Green Boat

Today we had gone to a sort of themed park “Shanghai Oriental Green Boat“.

The plan was to leave the hotel by 7 AM. But as usual some time spent in coordinating among 16 people(?). (more…)

Ganesh Festival in Shanghai !

Gowri-Ganesha Habbada shubhashayagalu :)
So in the weekend outing, all celebrated Ganesha Festival in an Indian restaurant ‘Mumbai Darbar’ by having a dinner.
Here posting some snaps….

Again no special weekend plan !

It’s too much hot outside in Shanghai right now (just opposite to the last time when I was here).
Sometime, I feel, if we hold match stick outside… it might catch the fire by itself :(
Anyway, I would not have planned anything even if it would been a normal one.
BTW with this hot condition, some of my friends are still planning to visit Beijing on this Sat/Sun, God bless them ;-)
As usual, me and my laptop will stay in the hotel room….

Just started counting the days, though it’s just 6 days…. OMG still loooong way to go!

One more Trip to Shanghai…

So me again flying back to Shanghai today night.
Had a great time in Bangalore . . . :)

Finally, a trip to Hangzhou !

After 6 months of planning, finally we did it !
Trip to Hangzhou :)
Yes, we have been planning for this from past 6 months or so.
Hangzhou, well, is not a new kind of place. Atleast for those who have been to places like Kodaikanal, Madikeri, Munnar etc. Anyway, from the cement forest(Shanghai), it will be nice to visit this kind of place once in a while. Thanks to my Chinese colleague (Liu Lei). She helped us to book a Buick(which can hold upto 10 people) and also became our tour guide.
Hangzhou is about 180KM from Shanghai (i.e. around 2.5 hrs of journey).
All an all a nice trip and a good start to 1 Week Labor Day holiday.

Never ending weekends in Shanghai !

Weekends are really becoming boring. Till last week it was very cold out side.. Now the whether is OK but even then we rarely go out. But today we went(again!) to (more…)

South Africa Vs Australia, that was too much !

After (really) a loooooong time, have enjoyed the cricket, that too in Shanghai.
Thanks to cricbuzz.com for it’s ball-to-ball update.
A world record was needed and that’s exactly what South Africa did to grab the Series with 3-2.
FYI, 434 was target put by Australia and nobody thought that could be an achievable until the Drama started by Gibbs. although he was lucky once but was unlucky to miss the double century.Neverthless, a great innings which brought them back in to the contest. Though, during 35-40 over when Kalis arrived, the run rate dropped a bit and the asking run rate was inching towards 10. But then, Mark Boucher held their innings and was the one who hit the winning boundary.
No idea how Australian’s are feeling now. Anyway to cross the 400 mark itself was the big achievement and after doing that, to be on the loosing side, it’s really a height of UNLUCKINESS !
OMG, we are missing ESPN/Star Sports in Shanghai!
