Undoubtedly, Swades is the the one of finest movies ever created by Bollywood !
It’s far from the normal filmy formula used in most of the commercial films.
Off course, a bit magic of Shahrukh and Gowarikar !
It’s great simply for the fact that, it is straightforward. There is no bashing on other countries, infact it is a film about a man who blames him self. If giving your life for the sake of country is one face of the patriotism, the other side is to live for the country. The best part is, the director never tried to tell everything by himself, instead he lets the audience.
The point is, (let us face it) it’s very easy to find mistakes in others, but how hard is to find your self as culprit!? .
In reality (as far as my take), everyone tries to find good opportunities, where as very few have the ability to create opportunities. This is time-bound entity for most of the people in the universe where at the initial levels, people generally look for the opportunities to earn money/name. Once you have got something, you have to think something for the country/people where you have born (be it any country in the world ). Here the country is not an imaginary part, it’s just the community/people who were there with you when you were struggling. The best moment in the film is, Sharukh traveling in a local train, sees a boy selling a cup of water for 25 paisa. No one discusses about this at any point in the film… it’s just one of those self explanatory scenes which are very rare in these days.The music is sole of the film… especially “Yun Hi Chala Chal raahi”, thanks to A R Rehman.
Actually, once again it was good to be a Shahrukh’s fan
