Mudumalai Trek . . .
It went exactly according the plan. And it was really a good decision to visit Madumalai. All along, we did get chance to see some wild Elephants, bison etc.
Had booked a room in Jungle Retreat in the morning itself. We left Bangalore at (around) 5PM. It was a pleasant drive most of the way. The Mysore road is really, too good.
This was the route we took: Bangalore->Mysore->Bandipur->Gundlupet->Mudumalai.
Had a decent dinner(though it’s was not what we were looking for), at a Restaurant near Gundlupet.
We reached Jungle Retreat at around 11PM. There were not so many people. Infact only 4 other people except 5 of us. We went to sleep quickly hoping for an early morning trek. Initially trekking was not in the plan(!?) but the Hotel person said we surly get chance to see some wild animals if we opt for morning trek. We woke up @ 6AM and left for the unplanned early morning trek. Apart from the trekking experience(after loooong time), we didn’t had much luck. Though, 2 of my friends did get chance to see one wild bear and elephant.
We finished trekking at 11AM and had a nice breakfast. Then, left the Hotel around 12AM. Since the distance to Ooty was only 30KM so we thought, it’s better to have a visit to Ooty also. Those 36 hairpin bends on the way did add some amount of excitement. On the way back to Bangalore, had a heavy dinner at Kamat Lok Ruchi.
Really it was again one of those happening trip, I should say !
